Bacon, Eggs and God

Bacon and Eggs and God. Come and Dine

Supernatural Ability

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Some folks have supernatural power. I know how that must sound to some of you, but it is true.

If you are a believer, and can utilize your Spiritual discernment, then you most definitely possess a supernatural attribute. The natural man (person) denotes those who are governed and influenced by the natural instincts; the animal passions and desires, in opposition to those who are influenced by the Spirit of God. When operating in our human strength, we can rely only on what we see, hear, feel, and know to make decisions and evaluate circumstances and relationships. But when the Holy Spirit dwells within us, he opens up an entirely new dimension of understanding. He shows us things we could never discern with our human nature.

Scripture is a source of spiritual discernment, but without possessing the power of the Holy Spirit, reading it becomes merely an academic endeavor. It is the Holy Spirit who takes the words of Scripture and brings them to life in the believer’s heart. The Holy Spirit knows exactly how, when, and where to apply God’s Word to our heart and gives us the ability to discern the passage of Scripture.

I can say from experience that many have been the times I read a passage of Scripture that didn’t seem relevant at the time, but in a time of need, that same familiar verse jumped off the page right into my heart and transformed my thoughts.

Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

The work of the Holy Spirit is to open our understanding to the things freely given to us by God. The Lord isn’t trying to hide his thoughts from us. God wants us to know his ways so we can proceed wisely.

Just like anything in this life, success requires work. If you truly want to improve your level of discernment, then invest some time in prayer, reading the Scriptures, and studying the Scriptures. Because the more we yield ourselves to the leading of the Holy Spirit, the greater our discernment will be.

God wants us to seek him and ask for wisdom.

Discernment allows us to better hear and comprehend the answers to our questions.
