Bacon, Eggs and God

Bacon and Eggs and God. Come and Dine

Cramped

But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, by grace ye are saved;

Are you feeling a little bit cramped? Maybe you are suffering from “cabin fever” and have been daydreaming about the time that will allow you to move freely outside of your four walls. Have you found yourself sleeping away the day simply because you are bored? Yes? Well, I am right there with you, because our community is also under a mandatory quarantine order.

Living in such close quarters for an extended period of time can have both positive and negative effects on our emotions. If you and I look back over just the last few days, I’m sure we can both point to at least one or two incidents where someone’s just rubbed us the wrong way. And you know how it is…our human nature wants to react and complain.

With no immediate end to the quarantines on the horizon, we are likely to carry that discontent around in our heart for days or weeks.

But if visualize Jesus Christ hanging on the cross and understand that he died for me….and for you…maybe your displeasure and uneasiness will seem less important.

Jesus Christ paid the ultimate price so that you and I could be forgiven of our sins and have eternal life. And somehow, when we gaze on that cross, Jesus breathes an eternal perspective into our hearts…a love so great, that he would die for you and me.

Now I ask you, “Don’t those petty things that happen, as we walk along our path, just pale into insignificance?” “Doesn’t a lack of forgiveness in our hearts just seem kind of lousy in the light of the cross?”

For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. – God

God is merciful, forgives our unrighteousness and doesn’t even remember our sins and iniquities.

Should we be any different?
