Bacon, Eggs and God

Desperation

So many persons live their lives in quiet desperation; fearing the worst will befall them at any moment. You might even say that it has become a cultural norm. People are fraught with fear, believing the economy is collapsing or their own financial security is faltering. Many are wracked with fear over failed relationships and the violence that is so prevalent in our societies.

As a Christian, I say we have a great promise from the Lord that dispels fear. Two simple words found 60 times in the Scriptures from Genesis to Revelation. Over and over again we are told, “Fear not”.

After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward. (Genesis 15:1)

And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: (Revelation 1:17)

From beginning to end, we are not to live our lives in fear, because of circumstances. We have a rock, a fortress, a deliverer, a high tower and the horn of our salvation. God is our strength and buckler in Whom we place our trust.

The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. (Psalms 18:2)
