Bacon, Eggs and God

You Got To Have Heart

Shall not they teach thee, and tell thee, and utter words out of their heart?

We find those words in the Book of Job. The context meaning are words of sincerity; genuine and earnest. Not words that are shallow or frivolous, but sincere words, revealing one’s inward thoughts; not rashly spoken, but only after deep contemplation; not by way of hearsay from others, but by one’s own knowledge and experience.

When speaking about the heart as the organ of the body or the whole person, Scriptural scholars agree when scripture speaks of the heart, it’s generally in reference to one’s affections, the place of our emotions. Unfortunately, we have lost heart when it comes to our faith. Christianity, unlike the belief systems of the world, is based on a deep, heart-felt faith; not on rituals, sacrifice or good works.

But take the heart out of it, and it no longer beats with compassion.

Our world is filled with heartless preaching, singing, testimonies, etc. Truthfully, at some point in our lives, we have all lost heart.

Paul, the apostle, said, For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be grieved, but that ye might know the love which I have more abundantly unto you.

You see, when you speak only to the minds of people, you are not reaching the entire consciousness of the person, but when you speak to the heart, you are speaking to the whole person.

When a person is speaking to you without their words being heartfelt, they are merely mouthing words that they believe you want to hear; such as many in advertising or most of our politicians.

Paul had sent an affectionate letter to the offending Corinthians themselves; and he did it with many tears. Admonishment would always be done correctly, if it was done with tears. Discipline would always be right, and would be effectual, if it were administered with tears. Any person will receive an admonition kindly, if the one who administers it does it with weeping. The heart of an offender will be melted, when the one who attempts to reprove the offender does so with heartfelt words.

How joyous it would be if all who attempt to reprove would do so with Paul’s spirit.

Discipline that is administered with tears and heartfelt words, is discipline that will have a positive outcome.

Show the love of Jesus Christ; show some compassion.
