Snap Thoughts

promise

For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes:

Paul had been telling the truth; preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. Neither was he a pestilent man, nor a leader of sedition. The Roman government attempted to label Paul as a ringleader so they tagged him as being part of a sect they didn’t like. A Nazarene was the name usually given to Christians by way of contempt. They were so called because Jesus was of Nazareth.

Considering the recent events, regarding claims of sects and sedition, it wouldn’t require much musing to feel opposed and downtrodden. But hey, if the government of Paul’s day inferred he was a seditious person, then I am in good company, because God had Paul to write almost 75% of the New Testament.

You see, we can oppose tyrants with truth. Paul was totally nonviolent, as were the other apostles; yet, they turned the world upside down with the truth.

And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also; Whom Jason hath received: and these all do contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, one Jesus.

That said, I want to now welcome another new follower of Pressing the Issue.

In keeping with my promise to acknowledge every new family member, let’s all give a warm welcome to Deep Believer.

Thank you to all who read and follow the blog.
