TIME OUT

Greetings Family,

It’s a holiday, such a holiday. Actually, both today and tomorrow are “No Work” days here. And that means there will be an additional 10+ million WiFi users hitting the internet. It is virtually impossible to do any research and posting.

Please bear with me until I get enough bandwidth to accomplish the work.

Yes, living on a remote island has some nice perks, but a stable internet connection is not one them. (Smile)

And don’t forget that on November 28 until December 4 we have a scheduled journey going to Macau. I found out that amidst Macau’s casino chaos, there are parks and gardens that are often overlooked. These are pockets of peace where people gather. One such place is Camoes Garden and Grotto. The Camoes Garden is Macau’s oldest park. It is also the largest, spanning an area of 20,000 square meters.

Even more interesting is that adjacent to the park is the Morrison Chapel. Built in 1821, the chapel was named after Robert Morrison. He was the first Protestant missionary in China and author of the first Chinese-English dictionary, as well as the first translation of the Bible to Chinese. Working for the British East India Company, he convinced the company to buy the land and appropriate it as a burial ground when his wife died. It had since became the resting place of many prominent figures and Robert Morrison himself.

Many people say the Chinese language is one of the most difficult to learn. Add to that the difficultly of learning to understand and write the characters of their language makes Morrison’s accomplishments very noteworthy. So I want to visit that place.

Pray for us. Pray the weather will be good. Pray there will be no flight delays. Pray that there will be no problems with immigration. Pray for our safety.

Peace.
