Snap Thoughts

Life Lesson 101

I remember the day I asked my dad to buy me a car.  I tried my salesmanship skills on him by attempting to convince him that I needed a car to participate in sports programs that were held after the school bus had left of its return route.

My dad asked me how much money I had in my bank account.  The next day there was a previously owned, 3-wheeled, bright yellow, Cushman Truckster scooter, complete with cab and pickup box sitting in our driveway.  My dad handed me the keys and said, “This is what you can afford.”

Thank you dad for teaching me a lesson about money management.

Cushman

The rest of the story?

That Cushman Truckster was fuel efficient, easy to park and fun to drive.  It also had a 12 volt ignition system with a car-sized battery.  I was called upon to jump start many of the cars being driven by my classmates.  On really cold days, there would be a line standing next to my scooter when classes were finished.

My Cushman Truckster also had sliding canvas doors which trapped the engine heat so on those cold days…I stayed warm.

Thirty-five years later people still remember that scooter and me.

Priceless!
